2011 Cox Plate betting – Helmet and Rekindled the movers

October 20th, 2011

Two horses have received continual backing in Saturday’s 2011 $3m Group 1 W S Cox Plate (2040m) – Rekindled Interest and Helmet.

Trainers of both gallopers have been smiling all week with the duo working well and looking bright chances of winning the 2011 W S Cox Plate (2040m).

Helmet, the lone three-year-old in the 2011 Cox Plate field, is trying to emulate some great horses to have won the race at that age.

You don’t have to look far for the latest edition, just two years ago So You Think led throughout in winning the first of his two Cox Plates.

The three-year-old Cox Plate winning club in the past 40 years  include Savabeel (2004) , Octagonal (1995), Red Anchor (1984), Surround (1976) , and Taj Rossi (1973).

The Cox Plate is a race that horses aged three have done well in.

Five consecutive three-year-old’s won the Cox Plate from 1947 to 1951.

Helmet has been backed from in the 2011 Cox Plate from $3.50 to $3.20 with Luxbet.

Luxbet’s Paul Vincent reports a bet of  $20000 on Helmet @ $3.40 forcing his quote into $3.20.

The scratching of Descarado today will help Helmet take up a prominent 2011 Cox Plate position near the lead.

Descarado will no longer be challenging for the position though Glass Harmonium is sure to do so.

More punters are warming to Rekindled Interest as the 2011 Cox Plate draws closer.

In from $12 to $6.50 with Luxbet, the Jim Conlan trained galloper will wear blinkers for the first time going into the race.

Working in them this week, he has found another leg and Conlan’s timing is looking spot on.

Lion Tamer drifted from $13 to $17 but is back into $15 for the Cox Plate of 2011 with Luxbet.

His trainer Murray Baker will re-apply the blinkers after his flop in the Caulfield Stakes.

Draw wide in 16, jockey Hugh Bowman will have to produce a gem but Lion Tamer on his best can be the 2011 Cox Plate winner.

King’s Rose has also come in for 2011 Cox Plate betting from $15 to$12 while long shot specking for Shamrocker $51 to$41 and  Wall Street $81 to $71 has been seen on Luxbet

Luxbet are offering the hottest spring carnival bonuses this season, including their $250 2nd Place Refund Bonus Bet open on every Group 1 race including the Cox Plate!
