The 2012 Cox Plate odds of Gai Waterhouse duo Pierro and More Joyous have lengthened after they both lost as short priced favourites at Caulfield on Saturday.
Pierro started the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) as the shortest priced in the race since Tulloch but did a great deal of work early in the race and was unable to hold off the fast finishing All Too Hard in the final 100 metres.
The son of Lonhro is still the Cox Plate favourite at bookmaker.com.au but is now priced at a more generous quote of $3.80.
More Joyous was also forced to do too much work early, in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m), and labored under the strain of 60kg to finish fourth behind Solzhenitsyn.
The champion mare is now on the sixth line of Cox Plate betting and is available at odds of $12 at bookmaker.com.au.
The Cox Plate 2012 betting market mover has been Lloyd Williams-owned Green Moon.
The Montjeu stallion was extremely impressive in the Turnbull Stakes (2000m) last Saturday and is now on the second line of betting.
He has also been well backed in the Melbourne Cup betting market.
New Zealand galloper Ocean Park remained steady in Cox Plate betting despite winning his second straight Group 1 race in the Caulfield Stakes (2000m) on Saturday.
The four-year-old did not win as convincingly as many experts expected, only narrowly defeating Sincero and a fast finishing Alcopop.
All Too Hard was shortened into odds of $8 after defeating Pierro in the Caulfield Guineas but is not a confirmed starter in the Cox Plate.
Trainer John Hawkes said that he would wait until next week to decide whether to run the half-brother of Black Caviar in the Australasian weight for age championship.
