2013 Cox Plate Betting – Double The Odds Available

October 24th, 2013

The retirement of Atlantic Jewel has come as a massive blow to racing fans all around Australia but it has really opened up the 2013 Cox Plate betting market; with three horses battling for favoritism.

It’s A Dundeel, Puissance De Lune and Fiorente have all been well-supported since the withdrawal of Atlantic Jewel and the best part is at leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au all punters can get Double The Odds (DTO) on their Cox Plate selection!

It’s A Dundeel has been the market mover in Cox Plate betting markets and is now into $4 ($8 DTO); with punters not worried about the history that is against the High Chaparral entire in the Australasian Weight-For-Age Championship at Moonee Valley this weekend.

No horse in the last thirty years has won the Cox Plate without having a lead-up run in October – something which It’s A Dundeel has not done after he missed the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) with a burst foot abscess.

Puissance De Lune is yet to record a win at Group 1 level, after having three chances this campaign, but has performed consistently and according to trainer Darren Weir will be peaking for this race.

The Shamardal entire is now into Cox Plate odds of $4.40 ($8.80 DTO) but will be without regular jockey Glen Boss, who was suspended for careless riding on Silent Achiever in the Caulfield Cup, and will be ridden by Group 1 winner Ben Melham.

Gai Waterhouse-trained Fiorente has been a surprise drifter in Cox Plate betting markets despite the fact he is yet to produce a bad performance since arriving in Australia before the 2012 Melbourne Cup.

Fiorente started his 2013 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with an unlucky sixth behind Atlantic Jewel in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) and followed that up with a scintillating victory in the Group 2 Dato Tan’ Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) before flashing home to finish fourth in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m).

The son of Monsun is now at Cox Plate odds of $5 or $10 at Ladbrokes.com.au thanks to their Double The Odds Promotion!

Other Cox Plate market movers include:

  • Happy Trails ($26 DTO) – Beat Puissance De Lune and Fiorente in the Turnbull Stakes and has improved at each start this preparation.
  • Green Moon ($34 DTO) – The imported stayer started last year’s Cox Plate at favourite and, once again, has found plenty of support in the week leading up to the races.
  • Foreteller ($52 DTO) – Chris Waller made a late decision to enter Foreteller in the Cox Plate and he is a horse that is over the odds at his current price.

You can find the best odds for the 2013 Cox Plate at Ladbrokes.com.au who are offering Double The Odds on every single Cox Plate runner!
