A full field of 14 hopefuls face off in Moonee Valley Race 9 at 5:40pm (AEST) today when the $3 million Group 1 W.S. Cox Plate (2040m) jumps as the second of the ‘Big 3’ Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival majors.

After opening at $7.50 in Cox Plate betting at Ladbrokes.com.au, who are offering Best Tote or SP + 20% on all Cox Plate Day races at Moonee Valley, the four-year-old daughter of Street Cry has been heavily backed into $5.

Winx is now the Cox Plate betting market mover and is out to become the first mare to beat home the boys in the showdown since Pinker Pinker (2011).

Enjoy Best Tote or SP + 20% on the Cox Plate 2015 and all other Moonee Valley Races this Saturday only at Ladbrokes.com.au!

Pinker Pinker ran second in Sydney’s Epsom Handicap over the mile before her Cox Plate triumph, a race Winx won last time out before her Melbourne debut this weekend.

There are four other single figure hopes in Cox Plate odds including former favourite Highland Reel ($6) who is on the drift to hand trainer Aidan O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore with back-to-back wins after the success of Irish raider Adelaide 12 months ago.

David Hayes & Tom Dabernig prepare the third pick in Cox Plate 2015 betting Criterion, the internationally-performed Sebring stallion coming off a win in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) over the same distance a fortnight ago.

The Caulfield Stakes last produced a Cox Plate winner with Ocean Park (2012) completing the double three years ago.

Rounding out the single figure hopes are then another international Arod ($8.50) ridden by dual Cox Plate winning jockey Craig Williams and another of Waller’s three in the mix, dual Group 1 winner over the mile in Sydney Kermadec ($9.50).

At longer odds in Cox Plate betting but still livewire hopes at the win are the likes of Waller’s Turnbull Stakes winning four-year-old Preferment ($14) looking to become the fifth 4YO in six years to win and Hartnell ($17) in barrier three for Wednesday’s Geelong Cup winning jockey James McDonald.
