Winx opened in final Cox Plate betting markets as a clear $2.35 favourite but has already heralded plenty of interest; firming into a quote of $2.15 with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Winx will be aiming for third thirteenth-consecutive race win in the Cox Plate, in what is an undefeated streak stretching back to the Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) during the 2015 Winter Carnival.

Resuming this year for a comfortable win in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m), the Street Cry mare subsequently took out each of the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m), Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) and Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m).

Comfortably winning the Group 1 Warwick Stakes (1400m) first-up this time, Winx has since won each of the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) and Group 1 Ladbrokes Stakes (2000m) with ease and should prove extremely tough to beat in her defence of the Cox Plate.

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner currently available at Cox Plate odds of less-than $10, Hartnell ($3.60) has found career-best form this time and is undoubtedly Winx’s biggest threat on Saturday.

Winner of the 2015 edition of the Group 1 The BMW (2400m), the Authorized gelding ran a handy second to Winx in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) first-up this time.

Progressing to a dominant win in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m), Hartnell repeated the dose in the Group 2 Hill Stakes (2000m) before also comfortably winning the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) last time out on October 2nd.

International raider Vadamos has yet to receive much attention in 2016 Cox Plate betting markets, but remains sole occupant of the third line at a generous $13 quote.

Vadamos has produced a number of smart efforts through a standout 2016 preparation so far; winning each of the Group 2 Prix Du Muguet (1600m), Group 3 Prix Messidor (1600m) and Group 1 Prix Du Moulin De Longchamp (1600m) most notably.

Yankee Rose will carry only 47.5kgs and is currently available at 2016 Cox Plate odds of $14, while Epsom Handicap winner Hauraki arguably offers the best value for money at a $21 quote.
